What to Expect at Product at Heart 2024: A First Glimpse

Product at Heart takes a fresh and different approach to curating our conference content. We intentionally select the themes for the year based on what we’re seeing within the product world, aiming to bring in a diverse range of voices from product professionals.

Many of our speakers are practitioners who bring their real lived experiences and stories to the stage. This approach allows us to offer a deeper dive into the topics we cover and deliver both insights and inspiration. Read more about our philosophy and approach to organizing the conference here.

We’re excited to share some additional details about the 2024 event here.

Join Us in Welcoming Melissa Perri and Kate Leto as Keynote Speakers

We couldn’t be more thrilled to announce two of the keynote speakers for the 2024 event: Melissa Perri and Kate Leto.

Melissa is a strategic advisor, author, and board member who works with leaders at Fortune 500 companies and SaaS scale-ups to enable growth through building impactful product strategies and organizations. In 2018 she wrote the industry-acclaimed book Escaping the Build Trap and in 2023 she published Product Operations with co-author Denise Tilles, a book that’s already generating a lot of buzz among the product community.

Kate Leto is an executive coach with over 25 years of experience with product management, digital transformation and leadership development. She has had a front-row seat to the evolving ways digital products are discovered, defined, built, and delivered and now takes her experience into organizations of all shapes and sizes as a coach and advisor. Kate is also the author of Hiring Product Managers: Using Product EQ to go beyond culture and skills.

Take a Closer Look at Our 2024 Themes

Wondering what you can expect to find in our themed sessions in 2024? Our themes for the year will be:

HOW WE WORK: Product Operating Models in Practice

We expect to see a LOT of content on product operating models in 2024, so Product at Heart is committed to add some hands-on advice and practical cases to the discussion. You’ll find sessions that cover how people are running their product orgs, the frameworks that are supporting them, and the cadences and rhythms that allow them to perform at the top of their game.

WINNING TOGETHER: Blueprints for collaborative success

Successful product orgs cannot operate in a vacuum—we need the support of our leaders and cross-functional colleagues and of course we always need to keep our users top of mind. This theme is all about helping you work well with others.

FROM GROWTH TO PROFIT: Rethink Value Creation

In recent years, many product leaders have seen a shift from emphasizing growth to profitability, which involves much more than changing your mindset. You’ll need a whole new set of skills to learn how to understand your company’s business model and how your product specifically contributes to profit. This theme can help you kick off these conversations within your team and your org.

SKILLSET TO MINDSET: Realizing your potential as a Product Manager

Being successful as a product manager isn’t just about your technical skills. You also need to excel in soft skills like cultivating curiosity, communicating well, and prioritizing effectively. It can also be incredibly difficult to make time to develop these skills, which is why we’ve chosen this theme to provide you with personal development opportunities during Product at Heart.

We Heard You: A Few of the Changes We’re Making in 2024 Based on Attendee Feedback

Our goal with Product at Heart is to create an experience that’s engaging, motivating, and actionable for attendees. While we believe our inaugural event in 2023 was overall a success based on the many positive messages we heard from attendees directly and on our feedback forms, we also noticed a couple of themes in the attendee feedback we received.

  • There’s now more time for networking

Many of you said that one of the highlights of the conference was getting to connect with other attendees and it felt like the time you had to do this was a little limited. In 2024, we’ll be offering longer breaks to facilitate all those exciting conversations and connections.

  • Lunch and dinner service will be more streamlined

While everyone enjoyed their food, several of you told us that the lunch and dinner setup was a little confusing. Each station was serving different menus and it wasn’t always obvious what you were queueing up for until you got to the front of the queue. This year we’ll be streamlining the setup so you won’t need to worry about missing out on your favorite menu item, no matter where you’re standing. And we plan to have more coffee outlets!
